Collaboration is the cornerstone of our network. We want to make connections and improve relationships between the world of production and the world of consumption! And this is exactly what the name “coalition” suggests: united, we can overcome the great challenges that lay ahead and set in motion the new future of wine.
All vine growers and those who transform grapes into wine are called upon to sign the Manifesto. Thanks to their work, driven by attention to the environment, the landscape and respect for the work and rights of all people, wine can be the engine of a profound change that will revolutionize agriculture and the countryside.
All those who act, thanks
to their profession, as a transmission belt between the producer and the consumer. Importers, distributors, innkeepers, restaurateurs, sommeliers, wine shop owners and journalists have an extraordinary importance in directing the choices of the general public towards a wine which is the result of a virtuous production method rather than one which is the result of a massive agriculture, makes ample use of synthetic chemicals and disrupts territories.
All those who deeply love
a certain kind of wine and through its conscious and moderate consumption, give the possibility to winemakers and professionals to continue the path of virtuous change of viticulture and the wider world of agriculture.
by combining environmental sustainability, landscape protection and the cultural and social growth of the inhabitants of the lands dedicated to the cultivation of vines.
The Manifesto for good, clean and fair wine is born from Slow Food’s experience over the years, a long-standing relationship in which wine has played a crucial role, thanks to the passionate involvement of wine experts, winemakers and technicians.
Through the production and consumption of wine made according to the Manifesto, we aim to positively influence the future of viticulture, by breaking the ties from the use of chemicals and monocultures, and re-establishing our connection to biodiversity across terroirs and regions.
For some years now, vanguard vignerons from across the globe have understood and communicated that we must change course. This change, however, cannot happen by acting alone. For this reason, we are calling on wine lovers and professionals alike to come together and play a fundamental role in the promotion and consumption of wines with strong environmental, ethical and social values. This is important now, more than ever, as we navigate a period of economic and ecological reconstruction.
Through this interaction with other actors in the network, winemakers themselves will have the opportunity to be exposed to other fundamental subjects such as education to conscious consumption, the centrality of a narration focused on what is really important to tell (and to know) about each wine and the territory from which it comes from, as well as recognizing the right value of one’s product.
The most important appointment for the Slow Wine Coalition members will take place in Bologna, from Sunday, Feb 25th to Tuesday, February 27th, 2024.

During the 3 days of the event, hundreds of producers, wine lovers and professionals from all over the world will participate in conferences, debates and tastings, with thousands of labels on exhibition, from all around the globe.
Slow Wine Latam Day is a day where we invite everyone to celebrate good, clean and fair wine made in Latin America. In this edition we will celebrate it from November 24th to 27th through local events organised in different parts of the world.
By accompanying the producers of the Slow Wine Latam community and sharing their labels, we help them to continue working and making wines that protect rural landscapes, restore biodiversity and promote the socio-cultural growth of their environment.
